Marimekko Unikko Anniversary Kitchen Textile Set - Grey
Marimekko Unikko Anniversary Kitchen Textile Set - Grey
Unikko (poppy), symbolizes creativity.
Marimekko is a design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. When the company was founded in 1951, its unconventional designs transformed the tradition of textile printing and clothing in Finland. Over the years, Marimekko has remained true to its original mission of bringing joy to everyday life. A positive and empowering lifestyle brand marrying creativity with function, Marimekko continues to delight the world with timeless, yet distinctive designs for fashion, accessories, and home decor.
This set includes the Pieni Unikko pattern apron and two Unikko 60th Anniversary pattern tea towels. The products are made of an unbleached cotton and linen blend, which is printed in Helsinki. The apron has a front pocket and an adjustable neckband. The tea towels have hanging loops on the long edges. Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko´s design identity.
